How can I restore a Fantastico backup?

There are two ways of restoring a Fantastico backup. The first, and of course the easiest (and fastest) one is to request our Support Team to do it for you. You can do so by posting a ticket under the:

Exclusive Professional Services -> Back-Up Restore -> Fantastico Back-up Restore category.

Please note that there are additional fees applied to that service.

The second option is to try and restore the backup yourself. To do so, you can follow this short guide:

  • First, download the entire Fantastico backup archive of the application. It is located in your fantasticobackups/ directory.
  • Extract the downloaded copy of the backup archive on your local computer.
  • Connect to your account using an FTP client and delete all of the script's files.
  • Upload the files from the extracted archive to your account using the FTP client.
  • Log in your cPanel and go to the Databases box and click on phpMyAdmin.
  • Select the database which is used by the script (if you don't know it, please look for this information in the configuration.php, config.php or settings.php file) and empty all tables.
  • Click on 'Import' tab and browse your local copy of the backup archive until you find a file called backup.sql.
  • Import the database.

If no errors occur, you will be able to see your site restored.

NB: Fantastico backups are created only when an application is being upgraded using Fantastico. Fantastico is NOT creating daily/weekly backups of your account.
