I've set the hotlink protection to include that url, and I have set the permissions. I still can not view my images.

In this case, you have most likely uploaded your images under the wrong dierctory.

 

By checking your cPanel -> Error log tool you will be able to easily spot the exact reason for this issue and fix it.
