What does the transfer / upgrade from shared server to vps include?When Siteground transfers a client from a shared server to a vps these steps are followed:
1. Backing up the whole user's account with all of its data, including mails and databases and files;
2. Transferring the backup to the new vps;
3. Restoring the backup on the vps preserving all permissions / ownerships / settings intact;
4. Re-directing the domain from the shared server to the vps.
The transfer does not require any client's actions. However the client should be aware that:
1. There is a DNS propagation of around 24 hours. During this time some visitors may resolve the domain to the shared server. Changes during the DNS propagation might be lost.
2. The server's address has been changed and the client has to update it in case it is being used for ftp or cPanel access.
